I have basically screwed myself this weekend by saying yes to too many people. I have so much to get done and people to see that I felt a bit overwhelmed at times. However, instead of freaking out (well, too much) I decided to just do what I could during my spare time to alleviate the self-induced stress I tossed onto myself.
At lunch Friday, I went around getting as much things done as I could so I wouldn’t be going batty this weekend. I had 3 places to go to and got it all done during my lunch hour. First stop was Mother Tuckers.
My sisters friends dad came over yesterday to set up our dishwasher, at no cost. When I asked him how much, he was very insulted that I even went there. I am grateful since he will be driving half hour to our home to do his thing and doing it for free. This is why I decided to pay him back with a nice gift certificate to a buffet style restaurant instead of cash. Mr. A loves to eat (and he is so skinny you would never know this) so I got a $50.00 gc for him and his wife to go out for a night out. They are very adventurous people who love to travel (at least 3 trips per year) and trying different foods. Tuckers mainly serves North American style food but I know he loves it there. Shute, everyone loves it there.
Next stop was Ricki’s. I was not impressed to go there but I had to. I have been needing socks for work (trouser socks) for months now but have always put it off. Unfortunately, I couldn’t put off buying then any longer so I ventured into the store. I also had to get a pair of tights to wear to my companies Christmas party Saturday night. I have a cute grey dress but I wanted those cool patterned tights to pair with it. They are cool but the price was hot. I left the store dropping $31.00 for 3 pairs of trouser socks and 1 pair of tights.
Next and last stop was Loblaws. I am having some friends over today for visit and dinner and my pantry is not exactly condusive to handling company as of yet. After looking at numerous quick and easy recipes, I came upon beef stroganoff. I have never had it before but it got great reviews and other people I know personally, say it is fantastic. The beef was a good price at $4.38 for grain-fed, clean beef. The fat was all cut away and it looks very fresh and nice. The beef was actually cheaper than regular cuts so it was score for me. I also had to buy egg noodles (2 packages), beef stock, dessert (no time to make a masterpiece) and mushrooms. The bill came to $25.18. Next time I will go to Food Basics as it is a lot cheaper. I only went to Loblaws for convenience sake.
I also didn’t pack lunch Friday so I spent $5.69 on that.
Total spending for weekend fun, clothing and lunch: $61.87. All in under one hour!
