So, I finally did it. In line with my 2009 goals, I promised that I would adopt a family and I actually got around to actioning it. My original plan was to do this at Thanksgiving but it totally slipped my mind. It did not escape my thoughts for Christmas however. I have sent off my application, have been contacted by the group and now have to wait for my families profile in order get shopping. I decided to choose a single mother with one child family. Empowerment is important to me so I wanted to focus on this group of women. The next steps include waiting for family details by email(s) and what they would need for the holidays, and the clothing size and age of the child. I will then make a trip to the grocery store to pick up the food and the mall for presents. I would like to finish everything latest next Tuesday. I will post on the outcome of this once complete.

Some friends and I adopt a family every Christmas. This Christmas it is a family of 6 (mom/dad/grandparent/ teenage girl/ small boy). Between the friends and I we supply everything on their list + some. It is a nice feeling, to know that we have helped out a family immensely. Good to hear you are doing the same. Keep us posted.
